  • Energy company calls on political leaders at Copenhagen UN Summit to strengthen international CDM projects

A month before the start of the United Nation’s Copenhagen Climate Summit, British climate protection campaigner Robert Swan has today brought back his yacht 2041 to Rotterdam Harbour. At an event attended by over 100 guests including the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Maria van der Hoeven, Members of the European Parliament and officials from the city of Rotterdam, RWE and Essent celebrated the tenth anniversary of the yacht’s awareness campaign for climate protection and the use of renewable power generation. Having completed 90,000 miles of its ‘Voyage for Cleaner Energy’, the yacht will now sail on to the Copenhagen Summit, proceeding on to Asia with a particular focus on China, before returning to Brazil in 2012 for the Earth Summit.

European energy company RWE has been supporting Robert Swan’s activities for several years. In the past, both RWE and Essent sent employees to Antarctica on missions. Experts from RWE Innogy and RWE npower helped set up the E-base, which is powered by renewable energy. more
